Adobe The origin of the adobe block can be traced to the ancient Egyptian societies, and has been popularized in many regions of the world including several states in the southwestern United States . Adobe, meaning "mud-brick", are exactly that: A brick formed of soil, clay and sun-dried to produce a 10" x 14" with varying thicknesses. The advantages of adobe are it's ability to maintain a cool temperature due to the thermal mass of the brick. The down side of adobe is it's low compressive strength.
BLOX Building Systems has adapted the adobe size into our production because of the simplicity of the construction. Possessing a much higher compressive strength (3,000 psi – the minimum strength requirement for concrete) as well as a more stabilized composition, BLOX are a excellent alternative for adobe construction. At a fraction of the weight, BLOX can ease the construction process, ultimately allowing more BLOX to be laid with less energy excerpted. The size alone makes BLOX a extremely versatile building product, suitable for many applications other than new home construction. The BLOX's size also attributes to its thermal capabilities . Greenstar Blox ™ laid in a10 or 14 inch thick wall exhibits an unprecedented thermal mass, producing high R-factor, and saving energy. For more information on Adobe Style Blox click here. |
